5 reasons trampolines are healthier than jogging

Would you rather… jog or run or would you prefer to have fun and rebound, feel weightless and land without pain or injury? We know! You’d rather be on an inground or an above-ground trampoline! Rebounding is healthier than jogging for many reasons. There are 5 reasons trampolines are healthier than jogging and we bet you can add even more!

Did you know: you could burn more calories when you jump on a trampoline/rebound than when you hit the road and jog? Rebounders — trampoline jumpers — explain that using an in-ground or above-ground trampoline is healthier and less risky to bones and joints than running.

Why is rebounding healthier?

  1. It’s fun
  2. It doesn’t feel like exercise
  3. Burn as many calories rebounding in ten minutes than on a thirty minute jog
  4. You won’t risk injury
  5. Even if you’re suffering arthritis or other joint pain, rebounding could be safer — ask your doctor to be sure

5 reasons trampolines are healthier than jogging

Rebounders realize when they are on a trampoline they uncovered these get-healthier reasons:

  1. Your knees won’t risk injury on a trampoline because you’re landing on a soft surface
  2. Your lymphatic system benefits from rebounding
  3. You burn more calories in a shorter time
  4. Jumping helps with balance and coordination and that is useful as we age. When jumping on a trampoline you’re landing on an unsteady surface and those causes more of your core muscles to engage to help keep your balance and keep you upright. Astronauts use trampolines when they return from space and the zero gravity environment to ease their muscles back into gravity.
  5. Baby boomers and seniors or anyone who has not been active can benefit from a rebounding workout without risk of injury. It’s a great way to ease back into activity and get in shape.

Learn About 4 Types Of Trampolines

In this article, we want to explore the 4 types of trampolines although what we sell and recommend are the in-ground and above-ground trampolines that we sell, it is always interesting to get more insight into the trampoline world (at least we think so!)

What is a trampoline?

It is a structure, above or in-ground, that has a taut piece of fabric that stretches over a steel frame and is held tight with springs. With the right jump mat and springs, a person who uses a trampoline rebounds — jumps — high in the air and lands on a soft, bouncy surface. Rebounding is a wonderful feeling because you are floating weightless for a few seconds.

When it comes to trampolines there are several uses:

  1. Recreational
  2. Competetive
  3. Mini
  4. Water

Learn About 4 Types Of Trampolines

A recreational trampoline — in-ground or above ground — is what we sell and are what you see in your backyard. They are made with waterproof canvasas and springs that are resistant to rust and the weather. You can buy a round or a rectangle trampoline although there are other shapes. The size you will want for your home use will be contingent on the weight of the heaviest person who will use it and the size of the space you have to devote to it.

A competitive trampoline is sturdier than a home use one and is made from a specially developed jump mat fabric. Most of these are portable and lightweight making it easy for an athlete to pack it and take it with them so they can work out on it no matter where they are. A competitive trampoline is typical of a standard shape and size and has springs that are more tightly coiled than recreational trampolines.

A mini trampoline is, as the name implies, smaller than a traditional trampoline. It is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use when space is limited. A mini trampoline offers the user the benefit of a great aerobic workout even though they are not going overly high in the air.

A water trampoline is popular and is used on the water. It is an inflatable tube that floats on the surface of the water and the user jumps on the surface (hopefully without falling into the water!)

No matter what type of trampoline you’re buying, there are safety rules you need to follow at all times to keep everyone safe.

The Benefits Of Trampoline Safety Pads

Safety always needs to be front of mind when you are buying an inground or an above-ground trampoline. We talk to our customers about the benefits of trampoline safety pads and how they should be considered crucial pieces of equipment.

The safety pads on a trampoline are a protective device to keep jumpers from getting injured on the trampoline springs. The safety pads cover the springs and keep everyone who uses the trampoline safe from injuries — even so, you still need to ensure everyone who uses the trampoline jumps responsibly.

Look for in-ground or above-ground trampoline spring safety pads are made of PVC vinyl instead of polyethylene because PVC vinyl is more resistant to the effects of UV rays — from the sun — to which most trampolines are subjected to daily.

The Benefits Of Trampoline Safety Pads

Look for trampoline spring safety pads that are at least 0.25″ to 0.5″ thick as that is both economical and provides ample safety. There are thicker pads available, they will cost more, and will offer a higher level of protection and should be taken into consideration when making the purchase.

Talk with us about the benefits of safety pads and which pads are the correct ones for the in-ground or above ground trampoline you are purchasing from us or one of our trusted vendors. Ask us about budget-friendly, but safe, safety pads and other accessories to keep everyone who uses the trampoline safe when they are rebounding.

Consider paying a little more for the highest quality and thickness of safety pads that fit your budget and the level of safety you’re looking for with your trampoline.

7 Questions To Ask Before Buying A Trampoline

“We want a trampoline!” Whether your children are asking for one or if you’ve been thinking about getting one for yourself or health reasons or because holidays are fast approaching, here are 7 questions to ask before buying a trampoline. An in-ground or an above-ground trampoline is fun, and is a great way to get in shape without the risk of an “on-ground” injury like you could suffer if you run or jog.

One of the biggest questions many of our customers ask is, “will a trampoline REALLY get used?” We have found that yes, they do! It is one of those pieces of equipment that is fun for adults and children and that means there are more people in the house who may want to get into the fun!

7 Questions To Ask Before Buying A Trampoline

  1. What size and shape should you get? The size could be determined by how much yard space you have to devote to it. The shape, is a matter of choice, although circular ones are considered “less powerful” than a rectangle. Circular trampolines, though are safer for children. But both rectangular and circular trampolines require adult supervision at all times. Measure the space you want to devote and make sure you look for all overhead dangers.
  2. Look for a model and a trampoline business that provides high quality trampoline — in-ground and above ground — and high quality, USA made parts including springs. We work with qualified retailers and installers that makes it easy for you to buy your trampoline and have it quickly and easily delivered to your house and even have a professional come and set it up for you.
  3. What features should you look for when buying a trampoline? A galvanized frame that is long lasting, durable and a jump mat that is of the highest quality. Look for a bounce mat that is strong, smooth, long lasting and one that is UV resistant. Know the weight of the users of the trampoline so you can be sure to buy one that has springs and a jump mat that can safely accommodate them.
  4. Look for accessories for your trampoline in order to protect your investment and those who use it. A safety enclosure or a safety net, a ladder for an above ground trampoline, a weather cover to protect the jump mat and springs, spring covers. A “trampoline tent” is an accessory that lies like a dome on the top of the trampoline and makes the trampoline more of an all weather piece of equipment.,
  5. Know what benefits you want to reap from your trampoline — family fun? Exercise? Improve balance and posture? Help with depression (yes, rebounding can help with that — so some trampoline owners say and it’s because of the release of seratonin and the feeling of being weightless)?
