Are Trampolines Covered By Home Owners Insurance

If your children have been asking for a trampoline or if you want to have an inground or an above-ground trampoline as an adult as a way to get in shape you need to know: are trampolines covered by homeowners insurance. The answers vary depending on your coverage and the company with whom you are insured.

Trampolines do cause a risk of injury — about 100,000 injuries per year — and that might be a reason your insurance company will exclude coverage for you and for it. Make sure you talk with your homeowner’s insurance agent before you invest in a trampoline.

Are Trampolines Covered By Home Owners Insurance

What are some considerations homeowners insurance agents site for whether they will or will not cover a trampoline.

  1. They may be included at no extra charge
  2. They may be included if you purchase additional liability insurance
  3. They may be included as long as they adhere to strict safety measures
  4. They may be included but only up to a specific amount of liability.
  5. Some companies will not cover the trampoline or you at all and will cancel your policy.

The only way to ensure you are insured is to ask before you buy the trampoline. You don’t want to get one, have someone get injured and find out you are not covered and will have to pay for any injuries or lawsuits out of your own pocket. Pick up the phone and make a quick call.

Trampoline Safety: What You Need To Know

The pandemic of 2020 helped see a surge in the purchases of inground and above-ground trampolines. The reasons vary but are usually because no one could leave the home, they are ideal for fun and exercise and it’s a great way to ensure everyone gets out of doors and just spends time together.

They are fun to jump on for everyone and are a great place for an adult to begin getting in shape. rebounding on a trampoline is a great way to get in shape in a way that won’t cause pain and injury to achy hips and joints. Rebounding also makes you happy — you’re weightless and seems like you’re flying through the air — what could be better!

Trampoline Safety: What You Need To Know

There is no denying that you could get injured on a trampoline, but truthfully you could also get injured riding a bike. The safety measures you have in place will help keep everyone safe on the inground or above ground trampoline. Younger children are most at risk of injury and that could be because they sometimes jump with other children who outweigh them and that can cause a “bumping into” injury.

‘Here are other potential injuries and how they could occur: Common injuries include:

  • Boken bones because of a wrong landing
  • Concussions because someone flipped or did a somersault (these should not be allowed!)
  • Sprains and strains – could be because of going from sedentary to overly active. Ease yourself into it
  • Bruises and cuts – if the springs aren’t properly covered
  • Head and neck injuries – could occur if the jumpers bump into one another

Common sense and “house rules” need to be in place to keep everyone safe and they include:

  1. Only one person on the trampoline at a time
  2. Adult supervision at all times
  3. Ban somersaults
  4. Make certain the springs are covered and that the mat and padding are adequate
  5. Use a net around the trampoline, whether inground or above ground

Encourage Child’s Play: 10 Reasons Why

Children learn through play. Whether they are playing with puzzles, having tea parties, talking to imaginary friends, digging in a sandbox or any number of activities that children love, parents should encourage child’s play: 10 reasons why.

From the food we feed our children to the healthy family dynamics and to encouraging play, our children — of all ages — benefit from getting up and moving and from both organized play (team sports) or playing with their favorite toys in unstructured play.

Encourage Child’s Play: 10 Reasons Why

Adults need to get their children up and moving because that movement benefits not only physical health, but mental health. Jumping on a trampoline is an activity that children love and that with proper supervision from a responsible adult can be enjoyable.

Here are reasons to encourage your children to play.

  1. It helps them stay healthy
  2. It helps them stay happy. When they play it releases endorphins
  3. It’s educational
  4. It is a great way to help your children get recreational activities
  5. It is social and helps your child learn to be sociable
  6. It. Is. Fun! Need we say more? No, but we will!
  7. Builds memories and family bonding is enhanced
  8. It helps with physical development and helps them grow strong
  9. It helps with brain power and reasoning skills
  10. Play promotes personal well-being.

Play should be a priority and parents should let children play on their own and not direct how they play. As long as your children are in a safe environment, let them use their imaginations. Give a wide variety of toys — remember how much fun it was to bang on pots and pans when you were young?

If you have a trampoline – inground or above ground — let your children jump around on that to burn off some excess energy and have fun!

5 Things To Know Before You Buy A Trampoline

The main thing you know whether you’re getting an inground or an above-ground trampoline is that they are fun! No doubt about it! Knowing they are fun is just the first in a line of questions and considerations to think about. There are at least 5 things to know before you buy a trampoline.

When you ask and answer these questions, you will become a well-informed consumer.

Because it’s summer and your children are probably already saying, “I’m boooooored.” Well if you have a trampoline you won’t hear that anymore! The kids — and you can stay happy, healthy and not be bored for the summertime and beyond.

A trampoline, inground or above ground, isn’t the biggest investment in backyard equipment you will ever make, but it is a purchase you want to make once you’ve gathered the facts.

5 Things To Know Before You Buy A Trampoline‌

These are the questions we get asked most often.

  1. What size should I get? You will want to look at shape and size as well as how much space it will take in your yard. How much yard space are you willing to devote to it? Where can you put it that you will be happy with it for the long-term? If you don’t want to block traffic flow, set it off to the side and out of the way — but not so far out of the way that no one uses it. Remember, too that you need to place it where there are no overhead dangers — roofs or wires for example.
  2. How much jumping surface will you need? This is a personal preference and goes along with the overall size of the trampoline. The bigger the trampoline, the larger the jump surface. While we recommend only one person on the trampoline at a time, sometimes people of similar weight may want to be on the trampoline together. Consider who will be using it, age and weight and where you will put it then determine the size of the jump mat.
  3. What safety equipment should you invest in? We recommend safety nets or enclosures. You will also want to invest in spring covers and mats to cover the space between the springs.
  4. Should you get an above ground or an inground trampoline? Again this is personal preference but it comes down to: do you want to excavate a space for the inground trampoline? Do you want to keep your landscaping aesthetically pleasing and don’t want an above ground trampoline marring the view?
  5. Can you install a trampoline yourself or will you need expert help? It is a DIY project but you will want to ask a couple of friends or family for help. Offer some pizza and adult beverages to make the project more fun!

A quality trampoline is worth the money you spend because it will be a safe place for you to play!

How to jump on a trampoline

If you have ever jumped on an inground or an above ground trampoline you may not think you need to know how to jump on a trampoline. You get on. You jump. End of story, right? Well, learning how to safely jump will help you jump without risk of injury and to glean the most benefits from the rebounding.

Practice makes perfect when jumping on a trampoline. You don’t need to be training for the Olympics to want to get the best height and cleanest landing. When you learn to jump on a trampoline, you will master a practice that will help build muscles, joint strength and help with overall balance.

How to jump on a trampoline

Trampolines have seen a rapid increase in sales and in families wanting one for their very own. Whether you get an inground or an above ground trampoline and whether it’s for your children, or you or both, working on your vertical leap is fun!

Here are tips:

  1. Know how much your individual body can take. You may need to condition yourself for the vertical leap and its landing and may need to work on your cardio before you spend a lot of time rebounding
  2. Focus the attention on your calf and quads when you push off and when you land
  3. If you want to increase your calf muslces do some off-trampoline exercises like standing on your tip toes or squats
  4. Strong, healthy ankles will help you with your rebounding and landing, too. Do lunges or leg hops to strengthen your ankles
  5. Consider your intial times on the trampoline to be intermittent training. Rebound one day, take a day off, rebound the next.

Jumping on a trampoline is an exercise that allows you to work your lungs and get cardio all without risk of injury because you’re hitting the hard pavement with every step. Ask your doctor, but he or she will likely tell you that rebounding is a great exercise even for someone who has been sedentary.

If so, we want to share with you why in-ground trampolines are great. We think they are so great that we built our business around offering high-quality, made in the USA trampolines for our clients from across the country!

  1. They reduce height injury
  2. They blend in with your backyard landscaping
  3. BONUS: They provide great bounce!

Why Are In-Ground Trampolines Great?

Sit back, relax and read on!

  1. Safety matters. The biggest thing you want to consider for any purchase is SAFETY! An in-ground trampoline is considered safer than above ground styles because of the height factor. With an in-ground trampoline, the distance between the hard ground and a jumper is reduced and that could be safer. Keep in mind that if you jump outside of the trampoline mat area you can still get injured — be safe always.
  2. No exposed metal. An IGT (in-ground trampoline) is safer than above ground trampoline because there are no exposed metal pieces or springs. Yes, we do also sell spring covers for both above ground and in-ground trampolines. The pad covers the lip of the trampoline retaining wall, adding an additional couple of inches protection
  3. We carry safety nets for both in-ground and above ground trampolines.
  4. Aesthetically-appealing option. This style trampoline will not obstruct your view of the backyard. Your sightline will remain as is until you see the happy children jumping on the trampoline!
  5. Performance matters. We have had our customers reach out to us and let us know they purchased the IGT system for the athlete in the family. No matter if you’re a gymnast, runner, martial arts expert or someone looking to get in shape without risk of injury, an IGT is ideal.

  1. Safe
  2. Functional
  3. Aesthetically pleasing
  4. Affordable
  5. Durable

5 In-ground Trampoline FAQs

Here are questions to get you started on your trampoline purchase and know what questions to ask.

  1. Do I need to hire a crew to help with the installation of an in-ground trampoline? Nope! It should take two adults fewer than two hours to assemble the in-ground trampoline, once the pit is excavated. You may want to recruit three or four adults to help lower the structure into the pit.
  2. How does the pit get excavated? There are some of our customers who dig their own hole with shovels and hard labor! There are others who hire local excavators. There are still others who will rent, or hire, a company to comein with excavating equipment and make short work of the project.
  3. Will there be standing water in the pit? You don’t want that so we recommend the IGT system to be installed two to four inches above the ground, burming the soil up to the edge of the trampoline. This keeps water from flowing into the pit if there is a heavy rain or snow melt and will also maintain a flush mount appearance. Depending on your local soil conditions, you may want to add a few inches of gravel in the bottom of the pit creating a sump effect to prevent standing water.
  4. I don’t live by your facility, how can I get my in-ground trampoline? Our IGT system can be shipped anywhere in the U.S. for $250. The system is delivered in four boxes totaling approximately 330lbs. Shipping rates outside the U.S. depend on location and tax implications. Price quotes are available upon request.
  5. What is the warranty policy on your made in the USA products? The frame is warrantied for ten years; the springs for three years; the pad and jump mat for two years. We also carry all the replacement parts for your trampoline.
