7 Reasons To Clean The Trampoline Mat

While you may not get your children to make their bed or pick up their clothes from the floor, we bet they will want to clean the trampoline jump mat! Why? Because trampolines are fun! They also need care to keep the mat healthy and safe. We have put together this list of 7 reasons to clean the trampoline mat, and how.

You may think that because your in-ground or above ground trampoline are outdoors and get rained on, that it doesn’t need to be cleaned, but that would be a wrong thought. Because they are outdoors, they need to be cleaned because of dirt, debris, bird droppings and dust.

Clean the jump mat at least monthly — especially if you don’t have a mat cover and depending on where the trampoline is located. You don’t want sticks, twigs, pinecones or other debris to snag the jump mat and you don’t want to jump on it if there is debris.

7 Reasons To Clean The Trampoline Mat

Get ready to clean the jump mat this week, the make note on the calendar and clean it in a month

  1. As mentioned, clean the mat to remove debris. Do so carefully so the debris doesn’t snag the mat.
  2.  Use a very soft bristle broom or brush and gently sweep off surface dirt and debris after you’ve picked off the larger pieces.
  3. Inspect the mat for any rips, snags or holes once you’ve cleaned off the debris. If there is damage, you may need to repair it before you use it. A small hole can become larger and someone could get hurt.
  4. Use mild dish soap and warm water and a sponge to clean the jump mat. Don’t use any cleaning product with harsh solvents because that could damage the mat’s fibers.
  5. Rinse the mat with a hose – no pressure washer – until the soap is gone and the water is clear.
  6. Try to clean the mat before it’s been exposed to the hot sun for the afternoon. Clean it before the sun gets too high in the sky or after it cools off.
  7. Declare the mat off limits until it’s completely dry. If anyone jumps on the trampoline on a wet mat can get injured because the mat will be slippery and unsafe for use.

Does Your Trampoline Need Replacement?

Before you enthusiastically open your in-ground or above ground trampoline for the summer, please take some time and perform an inspection. At some point you will need to ask yourself, does your trampoline need replacement? The answer may be — yes, or some parts of it, or none of it!

When you have to replace parts on your in ground trampoline or above ground trampoline, please contact us and make certain you are buying the highest quality, made in the USA replacement parts available.

Please check these trampoline items:

  1. Are there any holes or unevenly worn out areas
  2. Are any of the springs rusted
  3. Are any of the springs stretched out
  4. Is the net enclosure sturdy
  5. Are the spring-covering safety pads in place and viable

The initial investment you make in your trampoline will go a long way in ensuring it will remain viable and safe for many years. You will want to ensure you’re buying springs that are meant to withstand outdoor elements and withstand rusting. Investing in a high-quality trampoline, working and buying from an experienced supplier ensures if you require replacement parts for your trampoline, that they will be available.

How to inspect the trampoline

The trampoline needs to be inspected every few weeks — not just at the beginning and end of the season. You’re checking for: holes, unevenly worn areas, loose nuts and bolts and stretched out springs.

Any damaged areas on the trampoline means you should declare it off limits until you have repaired and replaced those damaged items. Jumping on a trampoline can be dangerous; it could make the difference between a soft mat trampoline landing or hitting the unforgiving ground.

Does Your Trampoline Need Replacement?

If you have any doubts or questions about the integrity of your trampoline, it’s better safe than sorry and to not use it until it can be thoroughly inspected and replacement parts ordered if necessary.

Holiday gifts for trampoline owners

Do you have a trampoline owner in your life or in your family? We have ideas for holiday gifts for trampoline owners because if they have a trampoline, there are unique items they may enjoy!

The holidays may seem different to you this year if you can’t travel for the holidays because of the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can exchange gifts and connect with friends and family from far away.

Holiday gifts for trampoline owners

Here are a few unique ideas to consider:

  1. Spring covers or new springs. This will be a gift they may not expect, but they may not think about having to eventually switch the springs or spring covers. Know what size and type springs their above ground or in-ground trampoline has and buy the correct ones.
  2. Buy a mat cover. If you know someone who has recently purchased a trampoline, they may not have thought about a mat cover, but it is a very thoughtful — and useful gift.
  3. Hanging bags to hold shoes. Asking friends and family to remove their shoes before they get on the trampoline is ideal. If they don’t want to put their shoes on the ground, invest in some hanging bags that are specifically made for trampolines.
  4. Buy some trampoline shoes in various sizes and leave them with your friends. That way they can use them or you can use them when you visit.
  5. If you are going for the big gift this year — buy your children a trampoline for the holidays — they will be so excited to wake up and see a trampoline in your yard!
