SIMPLE TRAMPOLINE SAFETY TIPS

Simple Trampoline Safety Tips

There is no doubt that jumping on an in-ground or above-ground trampoline is fun. There is also no doubt that you need to protect yourself and your children every time you use one. We have simple trampoline safety tips that you can remind everyone of each time they get ready to jump!

As a parent, or a responsible adult, you need to be the “bad guy” when it comes to keeping everyone safe. Honestly, you’re not the “bad guy” you’re the person who wants to keep everyone safe and happy and healthy when they’re on the trampoline.

Don’t let your in-ground or above ground trampoline become a source where someone gets injured. Let it be a place where fun is the only thing remembered!

Do your homework before you invest in a trampoline — whether above ground or in-ground style. Don’t buy a tramopoline that is the “best price” because you could “pay” on the other end if the trampoline isn’t used safely or if the device itself isn’t safe.

Look for a trampoline that:

  1. Has great shock absorption
  2. Has high quality springs
  3. Has mats to cover the springs for safety’s sake
  4. Has a safety enclosure
  5. Is the proper size for the weight of the heaviest jumper who will use it

Simple Trampoline Safety Tips

A safety net, also called a safety enclosure, helps keep jumpers from falling off the sides if they fall down when landing or if they jump higher than they should. You may also use your trampoline for children as a ball-pit and the safety net will keep the balls inside. When you use the trampoline as a ball-pit you will want to make certain the youngsters don’t jump as too many jumpers in the trampoline can lead to injury if the children jump into one another.

Here is what to look for in a trampoline enclosure or safety net:

  1. Look for one that is secured the entire length of the trampoline
  2. The bottom of the net needs to be installed toward the inside of the frame so someone can’t get injured on the springs
  3. Make sure the entrance has an overlapping closure. Don’t rely on children to zip or button or use the velcro to close the safety net when they get in

Because falling off a trampoline is the biggest cause of emergency room visits for those using a trampoline, the safety net can help prevent those injuries.

Here are some simple safety tips

  1. No one is allowed to do flips or stunts
  2. Children must be supervised at all times
  3. Only allow one person at a time on the trampoline. An adult can go on with a young child and hold his or her hands so the child can jump but no jumping from the adult!
  4. Inspect the trampoline net, jump-map, spring covers and the springs each time before you use it
  5. Install the above ground or in-ground trampoline at least six feet away from any overhead hazards (trees, a roof overhang, etc.)
