Did you know: you could burn more calories when you jump on a trampoline/rebound than when you hit the road and jog? Rebounders — trampoline jumpers — explain that using an in-ground or above-ground trampoline is healthier and less risky to bones and joints than running.

Why is rebounding healthier?

  1. It’s fun
  2. It doesn’t feel like exercise
  3. Burn as many calories rebounding in ten minutes than on a thirty minute jog
  4. You won’t risk injury
  5. Even if you’re suffering arthritis or other joint pain, rebounding could be safer — ask your doctor to be sure

5 reasons trampolines are healthier than jogging

  2. Your lymphatic system benefits from rebounding

When jumping on a trampoline you’re landing on an unsteady surface and those causes more of your core muscles to engage to help keep your balance and keep you upright. Astronauts use trampolines when they return from space and the zero gravity environment to ease their muscles back into gravity.
  5. Baby boomers and seniors or anyone who has not been active can benefit from a rebounding workout without risk of injury. It’s a great way to ease back into activity and get in shape.

6 Reasons Trampoline Exercise is Great!

You know that exercising is important to your health. There is no doubt about that, right? That’s why we have put together 6 reasons trampoline exercise is great! There are many reasons people don’t exercise and they include:

  1. Being so out of shape that exercising is painful and injurious
  2. Not knowing where to start
  3. The weather is too hot and it can be dangerous (those who live in Arizona understand that.

Because exercise is critical to health and because you want to do it in a safe manner, there are reasons to exercise on an in-ground trampoline. As with any exercise, talk with your physician to ensure it is safe and that you’re healthy enough to undertake this type of exercise — we bet your doctor will approve of a low to no-impact workout.

6 Reasons Trampoline Exercise is Great!

  1. You won’t suffer knee or hip pain when you jump on a trampoline. Rebounding is “softened” by the trampoline taking your weight.
  2. When you workout on a trampoline you wont have to take days off or need downtime between workouts because you won’t be suffering any pain from the workout like you might from jogging or lifting weights.
  3. Low impact workouts are ideal for anyone who is just starting to workout and for anyone of any age.
  4. When rebounding you experience euphoria because you’re so weightless while you’re in the air. Rebounding also strengthens the lymphatic system and helps move and remove toxins from the body.
  5. You won’t dread a trampoline workout because it’s not painful and it’s fun.
  6. We can almost guarantee that when you buy a trampoline that you will continue to use it — unlike many home gym sets ups which get discarded and forgotten.
  7. Another benefit is that you’ll be outdoors and just being in nature has a beneficial effect on your mood and your health!

What’s Best? In-ground Or Above Ground Trampolines?

This may seem like a question you can’t answer. What’s best? In-ground or above ground trampolines? It’s like asking who’s your favorite child, right? We put together a short list of benefits and challenges to both so you can make an informed decision when making a purchase of a trampoline — in-ground or above ground.

If you’re new to trampolines and perhaps haven’t even ever seen an in-round model, this will be a great 101 type article for you!

What’s Best? In-ground Or Above Ground Trampolines?

Here are a few things to think about when comparing one trampoline style to another.

  1. The bounce height. If you’re looking for pure height then the above ground model is what you want and the reason for that is that you already start out higher above ground than with an in-ground style. You can certainly get good height on an in-ground trampoline — make sure you follow installation instructions and that the airflow between the ground and the jump mat follow the installation guidelines.
  2. Aesthetically speaking, an above ground trampoline may be seen as an intrusion in your backyard. If you live in a neighborhood that has HOA regulations, it may not allow you to have an above ground trampoline. An in-ground trampoline blends in with the landscaping and is almost invisible.
  3. Both above ground and in-ground trampolines require set up and assembly. An above ground may be easier and quicker to set up because you take it out of the box and put it together. An in-ground trampoline will require excavation of the hole into which the trampoline will sit.
  4. An in-ground trampoline may be safer than above ground styles because you are closer to the ground from the get-go. No matter which type of trampoline you invest in you want to buy as much and as high a quality of safety accessories as possible.
  5. The maintenance and upkeep of trampolines vary on whether they are in-ground or above ground. In-ground models have their frames underground so they don’t rust as quickly, but if you’re worried about the weight of snow — an in-ground model may be more of a concern. Although, with both styles you will want to clear the snow off rather than let it pile up and have the continual weight damage the springs or jump mats. You will also want to cover the springs and the jump mat to protect them from the elements.

If you’re looking for a trampoline based on price, you may find that an above ground model is less expensive and will cost less to install because you’re not excavating a space for it.

There are unique advantages and disadvantages, none of which are difficult to overcome — it is just a matter of your personal preference.

How To Have A Happy Halloween This Year

Boooooo! Do you hear the children running around your neighborhood waiting for their trick or treat treats? Well, this year may be different and there may not be as many children knocking on doors for candy, but if you are going to take your children around, we have tips on how to have a happy Halloween this year.

Don’t let your children miss out on the fun of dressing up in a costume and knocking on doors for treats! As adults we think, “why not just go to the store and buy some candy.” But as a child, dressing up and being outside in the dark and knocking on doors is a thrill.

How To Have A Happy Halloween This Year

Even if you’re not going to let your little ghouls and goblins walk around the neighborhood this year, you may have relatives who live close who will offer up some candy.

There may be people in your neighborhood who will be planning a way to socially distance and give children candy.

Trunk or treats are popular. Individuals decorate their car trunks, fill it with candy and treats then gather in a central location. The children can then visit each vehicle and grab a treat. That’s a great way to have fun and be safe.

Once you’re done trick or treating, why not set up a few lighted pumpkins in the backyard and spend some time together on the family trampoline! What a great way to wrap up a fun evening.

Reasons To Take Off Your Shoes Every Day!

Walking barefoot is something that medical professionals and practitioners of yoga tout as healthy. Many people believe that walking barefoot is better for balance and it certainly helps ground you to the earth. We have reasons to take off your shoes every day and one of those reasons is simply to feel the earth beneath your feet and to enjoy the feeling and connection.

Many people are feeling disconnected right now — coronavirus and being isolated from friends, family and even co-workers is leading to many people feeling lonely and that can lead to feelings of depression. Even children today seem to be put into shoes as soon as they take their first steps. While a child may need support on his or her ankles to help with walking, in many cases, the child may be more apt to stay upright if their feet are firmly on the ground!

Be one with nature means by trodding without shoes. Remember a time when your feet were as tough as shoe leather because when you were younger you went barefoot as often as you could?

Because we are always in shoes, our feet struggle to climb on rocks, step on pebbles or may be too sensitive to even walk comfortably on grass.

Reasons To Take Off Your Shoes Every Day!

When you’re on a trampoline, you should definitely do so sans shoes! Jumping on a trampoline with shoes can damage the jump mat. Jumping with socks on could make it too slippery and you could land improperly. If you truly don’t want to be barefoot, look for thin soled shoes with rubber soles to keep you from falling.

Here are more reasons to take your shoes off on the trampoline.

  1. Feeling the earth beneath your toes will help you have better balance.
  2. Barefoot walking helps your vestibular system — your balance. Crucial for an aging population.
  3. Your feet are an indicator of your health. This is especially true for diabetics as they may suffer foot issues.
  4. Keeping your feet healthy starts when you’re young and goes throughout your life.
  5. A little dirt won’t do you in! Walking barefoot stimulates the nervous system and this helps improve immunity.

Rebounding barefoot on a trampoline lets you enjoy the sun-warmed trampoline mat beneath your feet, helps your balance and improves your health. Here’s to barefoot jumping!

Trampolines As Therapy

Let’s face it. Life is stressful! The coronavirus pandemic has lead to so many changes in our lives. We aren’t working. We are homeschooling our children. Going to a grocery store is an ordeal fraught with stress and anxiety. We believe that trampolines as therapy is a real thing.

Why? When you’re doing any form of activity you are getting healthy. Activity lowers stress levels. Working out takes your mind off the stressors of the day. Rebounding on an in-ground or above ground trampoline is just plain fun!

Rebounding, though has therapeutic benefits in that jumping helps move toxins through and out your body. Exercise of any form gets your heart pumping and a good cardio workout is key to health. Rebounding is fun!

When you’re jumping and are airborne you just feel great. Being weightless for those brief moments before you land gently on a jump mat makes you feel like a kid again!

Did you know that many people think that Eskimos were the original “developers” of trampolines? It’s thought that Eskimos used walrus skin to toss people into the air for fun and that turned into the trampolines we know today. We don’t know if it’s true but we like the idea of that story!

Having a trampoline in the yard or an in-ground trampoline in the garden has been a must-have accessory for those homebound families. It makes sense — you’re spending more time at home and you don’t want to spend all of it staring at a screen. A trampoline is a way to bond with your family, spend time with them when they are rebounding and it’s a way to get in shape without risk of an injury.

Trampolines As Therapy

  1. Rebounding can be therapeutic.
  2. Jumping on a trampoline is fun
  3. Having a trampoline is a cost-effective family fun accessory
  4. Exercising will help you face the stresses of the coronavirus pandemic and to get in shape
  5. Jumping increases your body’s blood flow and increases the availability of oxygen in your body (this is ideal when faced with an illness)
  6. Lymphatic circulation is improved
  7. Jumping strengthens your muscles and joints and your balance (necessary when we age)

Know what type of trampoline you’d like — in-ground or above ground. Decide where you will place the trampoline (make sure there are no overhead obstacles) Choose the side of trampoline and whether you want a round one or a rectangle one.

Don’t sit inside the house and be stressed and anxious during the coronavirus pandemic, get out and get jumping!

Rebounding

What is rebounding? Rebounding is a form of exercise and physical therapy executed on a trampoline. Rebounding is commonly used to help children with limited mobility and those who suffer from neurological disorders. In addition, rebounding is a commonly used therapy for autism and down syndrome.

Rebounding therapy involves a series of movements done on the trampoline. The trampoline surface provides a low level of resistance, that gradually helps build muscle strength and increase balance. It provides a much more forgiving surface than the hard ground. It is also fun way to get in some exercise!

With a ground level trampoline system there is an extra measure of security. Rebounding and other trampoline exercises can be done with out the fear of falling from trampoline surface to the ground. An in ground trampoline system also offers the ability to easily access the trampoline surface, and it eliminates the chance of children crawling under the trampoline surface.
